How search works — keyword vs. prompt search

Slipstream automatically detects whether you're doing a keyword search or a descriptive prompt search and routes to the right engine — plus typo correction and a few renamed labels to know.

Two Types of Search

Slipstream automatically detects the type of search you're doing and routes it to the right engine — you don't need to do anything differently, just type naturally:

  • Keyword search — specific terms like artist names, track titles, or modifiers like artist:T-Pain

  • Prompt search — descriptive language like "upbeat electronic music for a workout montage." This uses AI to find tracks matching your description.

Finding a Specific Track

Looking for one exact song instead of playlists or stations? See Finding a Specific Track for the search tray autocomplete and the title: power search modifier.

"Did You Mean?" Corrections

If you search with a typo, we'll suggest a correction instead of automatically changing your query. Click to accept the suggestion, or ignore it and keep your original search.

A Few Labels You'll See Renamed

  • "Ignore Vocals" is now "Use Track Instrumental Only"

  • "Playlists" is now "Appears On" for individual track searches

  • "Tracks" is now "Similar Tracks"
